A huge part of what we do is act quickly on any issues with your property. So today, we are excited to share another technology that we use to ensure that landlords and building trustees have full oversight and transparency when it comes to your property. We are talking about CompanyCam and how we use it to take notes and resolve issues in your property easier and faster.
What is CompanyCam
How would you normally send photos to your clients or vendors? You would have to send them via email. But you have to send photos along with their descriptions. Imagine having an email chain: that would be crazy with all the photos. Sure, you can also upload them on Google Drive and just send a link. But remember that Google Drive simply allows you to upload the photos. Nothing about the actual photos themselves, such as when they were taken, or any annotations.
Those are the issues that CompanyCam solves. It is an app made for every contractor and property manager that allows them to document and communicate from wherever they are. That is why every time our property managers go into the field to do a walk-through and inspection, they bring their iPads with them, installed with apps we use for our operations. They have it even if they just happen to be visiting or stopping by.
How CompanyCam Works
So what CompanyCam allows us to do is quickly upload photos, along with the details – such as who took them, their timestamp, and even a geometrical map on it so you know you are at the property. With CompanyCam, you can annotate every photo with arrow marks and wordings. So if there is a leak in the chimney, we can point it out in the photo, encircle it, and even write an amount for the repairs to it. In each picture, we can say what’s going on and why we are taking this photo. That way, when these photos have to be shared – be it to a trustee, vendor, or landlord – all we have to do is share a link. We can also use this link to put together an estimate. It is also helpful in tracking progress for before and after repairs.
Sometimes, we will also send it to vendors to bid. In this way, the vendors don’t have to visit the property. It can take three or four vendors and property visits, so imagine the time and delay it takes. But with CompanyCam, we can figure out the issues by simply taking photos, uploading them, and calling for a bid by sending the link to the vendors so they can give estimates. We get the bids a lot quicker, because there are no more questions about what needs to be done.
