One of the most affordable and useful tools to guarantee safer tenants is an outlet tester. All you have to do is plug it in and press the button. Now, how does it work and can it really save you time and money?
An outlet tester, as its name suggests, is a small device to test your outlets. A three-prong power plug with three indicator lights, you can detect some types of incorrectly-wired electrical wall outlets quickly.

One of the common causes of fire is an issue with an outlet.
You have probably heard of residents getting electric shocks. The most likely cause is that maybe there’s no ground, no neutral. That can start a fire and you don’t want that. A fire can burn down your property, then residents would have to move out – it is anybody’s absolute nightmare.
A lot of times, the likely culprit is an issue with the outlets. So instead of sending an electrician off the bat to troubleshoot these outlet issues, we send our staff first. Using the outlet tester, they plug it in, press the button, determine the issue, and send the electrician a picture of the tester. The electrician then knows in advance what the problem is. So when they go in there, they already know how to solve the problem and have brought the right tools with them. In that way, we save you time from multiple electrician visits and money. Tenants are also sure to be safer with such a small thing as an outlet tester.
