Move-in Checklist

First Month's Rent & Security Deposit

Your first month's rent check and your security deposit both are payable at the lease signing. Please confirm the amounts with us in advance.

Move-in Date & Inspection

Your move-in date and initial walkthrough information will all be provided at the lease signing.

Utilities

Utility accounts for your property need to be placed in your name immediately following the lease signing. Failure to promptly get the accounts turned over could result in temporary access problems or administrative fees.

Preparing for Your Move

Before you begin packing, it's crucial to create a plan that outlines your moving timeline and responsibilities. This preparation phase will help you stay organized and reduce stress as your moving day approaches.

Start by decluttering your home, sorting items into categories such as keep, donate, and discard. Once you have a clear idea of what you'll be moving, create a detailed schedule that includes packing timelines, utility disconnections, and change-of-address notifications to streamline the process.

Essential Packing Tips

Packing efficiently can significantly ease the moving process. Utilize quality packing materials to ensure your belongings are protected during transit. Labeling boxes by room and contents will save time when unpacking at your new location.

Consider packing a "first-night" box that includes essential items you'll need immediately upon arrival, such as toiletries, a change of clothes, and basic kitchen supplies. This will help you settle in quickly and comfortably without rummaging through multiple boxes.

Understanding Your Lease Agreement

Familiarizing yourself with your lease agreement is vital to ensure a smooth transition. This document outlines your responsibilities as a tenant, including payment schedules, maintenance obligations, and rules regarding the property.

Review the terms carefully, especially regarding your security deposit and any stipulations about property condition upon move-out. Understanding these details can help prevent disputes and ensure that you receive your full deposit back after vacating.

Moving Day Checklist

Having a checklist for moving day can help you stay on track and ensure that nothing is overlooked. This list should include tasks such as confirming the moving truck's arrival, double-checking that all utilities have been disconnected, and ensuring that you have all necessary documents on hand.

Additionally, assign specific roles to family members or friends who are helping you move. This will streamline the process and make it more efficient, allowing you to focus on settling into your new home.

Move-out Checklist

Notice of Intent to Vacate

Planning to move out of your Green Ocean Property Management home? Please provide us with written notice of your intent to vacate the premises. This gives us time to begin preparing the home for a new tenant.

Refer to your lease agreement for specific conditions when moving out of your rental property.

Property Condition

Before you hand in the keys to your rental, you'll need to bring your property back to rent-ready condition. This includes:

Rental Cleaning: Carefully clean every room in your home, paying special attention to the kitchen and bathroom spaces. Sanitize all hard surfaces, wipe down walls and vacuum/sweep all floors.

Landscaping & Outdoor Areas: If your home has outdoor space where you regularly address upkeep like mowing the lawn and landscaping, please take care of these chores once more before vacating.

Repairs: If any damage occurred during your stay, take the necessary measures to repair these issues. Patch nail and screw holes, replace broken glass and place new bulbs in your light fixtures. For more serious damage, speak to a member of our team.

Security Deposit

Your security deposit does not apply for your final rent payment. These funds cover any fees, repair costs, or unpaid balances on your account after your departure. We will make every effort to return the deposit to you promptly.
