Roofs are more prone to damage than you think. Rain can cause leaks and wind can bring about fallen trees which can pose significant impairments. As such, it is important to look after your roof by doing regular inspections by a roofing professional to do minor fixes and repairs if necessary. In this article, we share with you some roof maintenance tips that you should know.

How do we maintain the roofs of our clients?

#1 We pull up all the shingles.

Even shingles that aren’t that old can have small holes that can cause serious damage inside the property. To take care of this as quickly as possible, we tear off the shingles to get a better visual of the extent of the damage and the work that needs to be done.

#2 We make sure that everything else underneath is okay.

The roof support structure should be free from any further issues that may need a fix.  You can also look for water stains inside the house, such as on ceilings and the attic. Other most common warning signs to take note of are:

  • Musty odors in certain rooms
  • Spots on your exterior walls
  • Bulging patches on interior walls

#3 We put the weather protection sheets.

Different types of roofing sheets protect the outer roof layer from damage brought by the weather. When installed correctly, it prolongs the roof’s lifespan by helping prevent leaks or needs for repairs.

Sure, you can try doing these maintenance tips yourself. But nothing beats having a professional inspector who is sure to spot problems you might have missed. If you are worried about the expense, we at Green Ocean Property Management can keep the costs low because we are able to do this in-house.
